Key Action Updates on Forced Arbitration

There are two upcoming hearings addressing the deceptive practice called forced arbitration, which eliminates access to the courts replacing it with a secretive tribunal rigged in favor of billion dollar corporations.

First, the Consumer Financial Protect Bureau (CFPB) is holding a field hearing on Thursday in Dallas, Texas at 11 a.m. CST. At this hearing the CFPB is expected to release part one of a study on forced arbitration. You can watch the hearing live online here. The CFPB has the authority to stop the use of forced arbitration within a number of financial products.

The second is a full Senate Judiciary Committee hearing entitled, “The Federal Arbitration Act and Access to Justice: Will Recent Supreme Court Decisions Undermine the Rights of Consumers, Workers, and Small Businesses?” It will take place next Tuesday, December 17th at 2 p.m. EST.

Lastly, over 16,000 Americans have signed on to an online petition asking the CFBP to stop forced arbitration. We urge that you join the many others who have already signed this petition by putting down a signature of your own and help us continue the fight against forced arbitration.

If no one is accountable, no one is safe.
